Simons Development Labs / The practice

A studio for
following a thread.

I’m Will Simons, a software engineer, solo founder, and maker based in San Francisco. I’m building skateboard.fyi, an independent archive and research platform for skateboard print culture.

Code, wood, paper, light

Start with curiosity.
Make something real.

Sometimes that means building an archive for skate magazines. Sometimes it means finding a piece of wood in the desert and turning it into a light.

I started skateboard.fyi in 2025 and began physical archival work that December. I develop the platform and the tools that turn magazine scans into searchable records.

The form changes. The impulse stays familiar: pay attention, try something, see what it makes possible.

My path has taken me through software at Glowforge, winters making things at Mars College in Bombay Beach, and back to San Francisco. This studio is a place to bring those experiences together.
